Ellie Mae was founded in 1997 to leverage the power of the Internet for mortgage originators.

We started by hosting mortgage websites and over the years, our company grew through the development of the Ellie Mae Network for electronic mortgage transactions, the Encompass Mortgage Management Solution software and accompanying products and services such as Encompass CenterWise™ websites and electronic document management services and Encompass Closer™ document preparation services.

As Ellie Mae grew and our network, software and services evolved, so did our client base, starting with mortgage brokers and expanding to include mortgage bankers, community banks, credit unions and regional and national lenders.

In 2008, Ellie Mae acquired certain assets of Online Documents Inc, a provider of mortgage documents, including closing documents and disclosures, and in 2009, we acquired Mavent Inc., a provider of automated compliance solutions for the mortgage industry.

Also in 2009, we proudly launched Encompass360, software that we believe provides a revolutionary approach to automating and streamlining each step in the mortgage process, from origination and processing to closing, business intelligence and reporting.

We estimate that about 20% of the nation’s new mortgages are originated through the Ellie Mae Network using Encompass software each year.
